Country / Organiser: Greece — EVBB Policy Camp
Location: Thessaloniki
Event theme: “Beyond the Bubble: VET, AI & the Future of EU Funding”
As VETCompass reaches the end of its project journey, its results were presented in Thessaloniki to VET stakeholders, policymakers, project practitioners and professionals from across Europe and beyond. The multiplier event took place alongside EVBB’s annual Policy Camp, “Beyond the Bubble: VET, AI & the Future of EU Funding”, which brought together European VET leaders, project practitioners, policymakers and institutional partners. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with peers across the VET ecosystem and discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, from the future of EU funding to the growing role of AI in project development. Those conversations connect closely to what VETCompass has been working towards all along: strengthening the quality and attractiveness of VET across Europe.
VETCompass was developed to address an important gap in VET: while increasing attention is given to the competences of learners, there are fewer practical approaches for assessing and developing the transversal skills of the teachers, trainers and staff who support them. The project focused on digital, pedagogical and soft skills, with the aim of providing a practical way to assess these competences and support their further development at European level. This work resulted in three key outputs:
- Game-Based Assessment Tool — allows VET educators to explore and assess their competences through interactive scenarios and challenges based on situations they may encounter in their professional practice.
- Toolbox Library — brings together more than 50 resources, including best-practice examples, Open Educational Resources and practical tools to support further skills development.
- Roadmap for VET Institutions — provides guidance for organisations and managers on how to use the project results within their continuous professional development strategies.
The Thessaloniki event offered an opportunity to showcase these results and exchange with professionals who can help bring them into wider VET practice. As VETCompass comes to a close, the project’s tools remain available to VET educators, institutions and organisations interested in assessing and strengthening transversal skills.
