Discover the Activities of the VETCompass Project

The VETCompass project is a European initiative dedicated to empowering VET (Vocational Education and Training) teachers, trainers, and staff by strengthening their transversal competences through innovative tools and resources.
Funded under the Erasmus+ Programme, and coordinated by the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB), the project brings together leading organisations from Germany, Italy, Greece, and Ireland.

Throughout its 30-month duration, VETCompass is implementing a range of strategic activities designed to produce concrete, practical results for educators across Europe.

Here’s an overview of the key activities we are carrying out:

Research on Transversal Skills and Assessment Practices

The project began with an in-depth research phase at national, European, and international levels. Partners conducted desk and field research to identify the transversal competences that are most critical for today’s VET educators, as well as to map existing assessment methodologies. This research served as the evidence base for all further project developments.

Development of the Transversal Skills Assessment Framework

Building on the research findings, VETCompass has co-constructed a comprehensive Transversal Skills Assessment Framework. Designed collaboratively with VET teachers and trainers during a dedicated Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA) held in Italy, the Framework defines 10 key transversal competences, complete with detailed descriptors and proficiency levels.

Creation of an Innovative Game-Based Assessment Tool

One of the project’s flagship outputs is the design and development of an interactive, game-based digital tool. This tool allows VET educators to self-assess their transversal competences in a dynamic and engaging environment. By gamifying the assessment process, VETCompass aims to make professional development both accessible and motivating.

Piloting the Assessment Tool with VET Educators

To ensure the tool’s relevance and effectiveness, the VETCompass consortium will pilot it with VET teachers and trainers across partner countries. Through this piloting phase, user feedback will be collected to refine the tool and validate its usability and pedagogical value.

Development of the Toolbox Library and CPD Roadmap

In parallel with the piloting phase, the project will create a Toolbox Library — a collection of practical resources, activities, and strategies for developing transversal competences — and a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Roadmap.
The Roadmap will guide educators in designing their own lifelong learning journeys based on the competences assessed through the tool.

Dissemination and Stakeholder Engagement

Throughout the project, VETCompass has prioritised dissemination activities to ensure that results reach the widest possible audience. Through the project website, social media channels, newsletters, stakeholder meetings, and participation in sector events, the consortium is building strong visibility and encouraging the uptake of its outputs across Europe.
