New Milestone: The VETCompass Transversal Skills Assessment Framework is Now Available

We are proud to announce the completion and release of the VETCompass Transversal Skills Assessment Framework, one of the key milestones of the project!

Developed through a collaborative, practitioner-driven process, the Framework defines the 10 core transversal competences essential for VET (Vocational Education and Training) teachers, trainers, and staff across Europe. It offers a structured, user-friendly approach to assessing, reflecting on, and strengthening these vital skills, which are increasingly important for delivering high-quality, future-oriented vocational education.

The VETCompass Assessment Framework was co-constructed with the direct input of VET educators during the Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA) held in Padova, Italy, in October 2024. Over the course of five intensive days, teachers, trainers, and education experts from all partner countries worked together to identify competences, develop behavioural indicators, and define proficiency levels adapted to the real needs of VET professionals.

The Framework includes:

  • Detailed descriptions of the 10 transversal competences;

  • Observable indicators for each competence;

  • Links to European standards such as DigCompEdu, EQAVET, and EntreComp.

The VETCompass Framework is a practical tool designed not only for self-assessment but also for supporting continuous professional development. It provides a reference point for individual educators, training institutions, and VET organisations wishing to foster transversal competences as a key pillar of teaching excellence.

The Assessment Framework also lays the foundation for the next stages of the project:
It is being used as the basis for the design of the VETCompass Game-Based Assessment Tool, which will offer educators an interactive, engaging way to assess and reflect on their transversal skills.

The Framework is now available for download on the VETCompass website. We invite VET professionals, training providers, policymakers, and all interested stakeholders to explore this important resource and join us in advancing excellence in VET education across Europe.

Stay connected with us as we continue developing the next project outputs, building tools to empower VET educators for the challenges of today and tomorrow.
