The VETCompass project officially launched with its Kick-off Meeting held from 16–17 January 2024 in Brussels, Belgium, at the premises of the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB), the project coordinator. This important event brought together partners from Germany, Italy, Greece, and Ireland, marking the beginning of a shared journey to reshape the future of vocational education and training (VET) in Europe.
During the two-day meeting, partners worked collaboratively to lay a strong foundation for project implementation. Key discussions focused on establishing effective internal communication mechanisms, developing detailed planning for activities across all work packages, and setting clear strategies for the dissemination and exploitation of project results. The meeting ensured that all partners were aligned with the project’s objectives, methodologies, and expected outcomes.
VETCompass aims to address a crucial gap in VET education: the development and assessment of transversal skills among VET teachers, trainers, and staff. By creating a solid Transversal Skills Assessment Framework, an innovative game-based digital assessment tool, and a rich Toolbox Library for continuous professional development, the project seeks to enhance the quality and attractiveness of VET provision across Europe.
Engaging conversations during the meeting explored opportunities for collaboration and innovative strategies to amplify the impact of VETCompass beyond the consortium. Partners exchanged ideas on how to maximise outreach to VET institutions, teacher networks, policymakers, and the broader education community, ensuring that project outcomes are widely disseminated and sustainable.
The Kick-off Meeting also provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen the spirit of partnership and shared vision among all participants. The commitment to collaboration, innovation, and excellence was clearly evident, setting a positive tone for the months ahead.
As the VETCompass project moves forward, this strong beginning ensures that activities are well-coordinated, quality-driven, and impact-oriented. We look forward to sharing further updates as we progress towards empowering VET educators with the transversal competences needed to navigate the challenges and opportunities of today’s and tomorrow’s world.
Stay with us on this journey towards a stronger, more resilient VET education system across Europe.
