The VET Compass Transnational Partner Meeting in Rome

On 13–14 May, the VETCompass partnership gathered in Rome, Italy, for a Transnational Project Meeting, hosted by ST Skills Together at CoFoundry, located in the heart of the city. The meeting brought together project partners from across Europe to review progress, exchange ideas, and coordinate the next steps of the VETCompass initiative.

The VETCompass project aims to strengthen Vocational Education and Training (VET) by developing a comprehensive framework and assessment tool for evaluating the transversal competencies of VET teachers, trainers, and staff. Alongside this, the project will also create a toolbox library of resources designed to support VET institutions in promoting the continuous professional development of their educators.

During the meeting, partners closely monitored the project’s progress and discussed the ongoing development of the VETCompass assessment tool. Each partner presented updates on their work so far, contributing to discussions on how transversal skills can be effectively assessed and supported within different VET pathways across Europe.

The project is built around four main objectives:

  • Developing a specialised Transversal Skills Assessment Framework for VET teachers, trainers, and staff
  • Compiling a comprehensive document identifying areas for improvement and refinement within the framework
  • Strengthening collaboration among project partners to jointly develop and validate the framework
  • Supporting the continuous professional development of VET educators through an updated and practical assessment approach

Beyond the technical sessions, the meeting also provided a valuable opportunity for partners to connect and collaborate in person. The gathering took place during a particularly vibrant period in Rome, with celebrations across the city marking the welcoming of the new Pope.

The discussions and collaborative work in Rome represent another important step toward delivering innovative tools that will help VET institutions support their educators and strengthen transversal skills across the sector.
